Private beach
Lisdillon Estate is one of the few lucky places in the world that has its very own private beach. Lisdillon's property extends to low tide mark so its boundaries grow bigger and smaller every second! Even though it is private and most of the time there won't be another person in sight you will occasionally come across other guests and people who rent shacks on the farm.
Private river
Take a moment to breathe and unwind on a quick stroll to the nearby river.
**POP UP PICNIC AT LISDILLON
We are also very excited to offer our guests Pop up picnics Tasmania. Taste some beautiful local produce while enjoying everything the coast has to offer! Guests will receive a free bottle of Lisdillon wine when they book the picnic.
Please contact us to organise this special experience.
Lisdillon Wine
Taste and/or buy a bottle of Lisdillon's award winning Pinot Noir and Sav Blanc. Order prior to your booking so it is waiting in your cottage when you arrive and receive 10% off OR order during your stay and have it delivered to your door in 5 minutes.
PLEASE NOTE about Heating and Firewood:
Since there are heaters in all the rooms we only provide a limited supply of firewood so you can still enjoy the ambience of the fire. If you need more you can buy a bag of wood available in the cottage. We encourage this because it supports "Little Wood," a firewood business run by four kids. You can pay by bank transfer using the details provided on the wall. Each bag includes 20kg of wood, kindling, and firelighters.
A fisherman’s haven
Trot down to the seafront of the Lisdillon Estate or rivulet and enjoy all the aquatic life on offer. We ask that all fish caught in the river and estuary are on a strictly catch and release basis (unless you are going to eat them) in order to preserve the environment of the river and estuary. Please only use lures, not bait hooks.
The sea out the front of our property offers bay flathead, salmon, squid cod, crayfish, and so much more. In the Lisdillon Rivulet, you’ll also find bream, oysters, brown trout, native galaxia and many other creatures.
THINGS TO NOTE:
- You have the entire cottage to yourself, however there is a small back part of the house that will be locked.
Follow us on @lisdillon_estate for more images.
- Private river with plenty of fish to catch (and release).
- Private beach. Please note: it is owned by the Lisdillon owners but you may share with a few other guests. Mostly the beach is empty or just has one or two other people on it.
- If you have a boat you can take it out to sea in front of our property.
You may not necessarily see us as we are quite busy on the farm, but we are quick to respond to any queries. Please message us if you have any questions or would like to purchase wine.
Lisdillon is a 6000-acre working sheep farm and vineyard. The estate includes three secluded beaches as well as the reef off the main beach and a rivulet and estuary. Featuring unrivalled views of The Hazzards, Freycinet National Park, and Maria Island.
Back in the day (1830), the land once housed a small but thriving township. The sheep farm,19th-century cottages and sprawling native land are living reminders of Lisdillon’s rich history. Now home to an award-winning vineyard and boutique accommodation, Lisdillon is the perfect balance of past and present Tasmania.
Make the most of the expansive lands by walking, swimming, fishing or bringing your kayaks and exploring the river and coastline.
Or if you fancy a venture beyond the estate, eat at one of the local cafes or restaurants in Swansea, Triabunna or Orford (all within half an hour's drive). The award-winning restaurant Piermont is only a ten-minute drive. Other local adventures include whale watching, bike riding, quad bike touring, and more.
All in all, Lisdillon is the perfect escape for individual travellers, couples, families, or friends. In fact, many of our guests describe Lisdillon as one of the most beautiful places they have seen on their visit to Australia.
There is a bus which passes the farm twice a day, weekdays, but we do advise you to have private means of transport for the sake of convenience.
Water consumption:
We switch between the river and tank water, although both are filtered and safe to drink, some people still prefer to bring their own.
The cupboard and kitchen has some cooking supplies which you are welcome to use (we will provide a more detailed list after booking). As we are located 21 km from the nearest town, we also advise guests to do their main grocery shopping before they get here.
