"The outside looks a little tired We had a very warm welcome on arrival Check in was quick and easy We were shown to our room (10) the man made polite conversation. The room was a good size but very dated like staying at your grandma’s. The room was very clean, the towels were white, clean and soft. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. There is ample free parking. Overall a good stay for one night."

"It was a great location to stay pre boarding on the ship. Clean and a great restaurant. We did a tour from Southampton and walked the area which was interesting. Price point was good not fancy but was what we needed . Definitely would book with them again ."

"Nice spacious room and well appointed. Stuart was very welcoming and outlined the facilities available. As well as in-room coffee & tea facilities there's fresh milk and sodas in a fridge in the lounge. There's an optional continental breakfast which is delivered to your door at a time of your choosing in the morning and can be enjoyed in-room, in the lounge or in the garden. Alternatively, if you prefer a cooked breakfast, there are a couple of nearby cafes recommended."

"Terrible hotel. Would avoid! Rang me on the day of check-in to say that the hotel was overbooked. I was then told that, as compensation for THEIR error, they would put me in a 'sister' hotel, which in fact looked like a 1970s pub and was not at all a like-for-like swap. Very unhelpful staff; offered absolutely no assistance in resolving any discrepancies, and had to escalate to Expedia to get anywhere."

"A very lovely, friendly and comfortable hotel. Staff were super friendly. Restaurant food was great. À la carte breakfast was also very good but there was no fruit offered which I was disappointed with. Times were also a little tight from breakfast, dinner, room cleaning and checkout but it was a small hotel so this is understandable. I would definitely stay here again. Thankyou."

"Beautiful historic mansion. We walked thru nearby parks to the riverfront for lunch. The outdoor restaurant at Orange Grove was very pleasant for an evening dinner and happy hour. The admiral lounge is very comfortable while waiting for pickup to go to the airport or cruise ships."

"No one at the front desk. A sign that says” check in at 3pm”. No air-conditioning during the hottest summer in the UK, June 2026. No safe, no phone or refrigerator in the room. They have water kettle and provide coffee packets & sugar. No cleaning or servicing the room unless you ask for it. I asked for it, they did it one day and I had to go down again to tell them because they didn’t clean it the second day of our stay. Bathroom has one bottle of something to wash your body and hair. "This was our 2nd stay when visiting Portsmouth for gigs. The hotel team are always very freindly and helpful. The breakfast is always good with good selection of fruits and juices to compliment ( if you actually have room). Free parking on a 1st come basis. All in all a great place to stay when in Pompey!"

"The location is very convenient, 10-15 mins to the ferry, 3 mins to the nearest bus stop. The staff is very helpful, I was able to leave my luggage after check out for a few hours. However the hotel is located in an old building and the amenities are quite dated. The windows are single glazed and I had difficulty opening and closing them."
