"We were making a multi-day road trip around the Big Island and needed a place to stay after a couple of days in Volcanoes NP. We chose the Lava Bus because it was such a unique property. We were so happy we did! It is a bit of a drive to get to any services (around 20 minutes to gas/groceries) but it was an amazing location for seeing the stars at night and enjoying peace and quiet. It felt very remote, but at the same time the bus itself was so well-appointed that it felt somehow luxurious....

"Absolutely loved staying here and Jacob and Morena are top notch hosts! We love to get out and about and they were able to suggest some really awesome places to visit. "We had a very good time in the cottage! The place is as expected and even better. Great views, quiet (outside of nature noise of course), clean, very confortable bed in the main house. "We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. several little lizards came to our outdoor breakfast table, and we loved feeding them. One of us did get eaten up by either mosquitoes or no-see-ums, despite applying bug spray liberally. We also had to get used to the very loud nocturnal coqui frogs—bring ear plugs. "

We loved the attached backyard deck for morning & night hangout, beautiful views! And florally fragrant air was unbelievable. Kitchen is well equipped for meal making.
