Hidden Gem in Keweenaw's Outdoor Playground

Built in 2004 this quiet cottage is located on a private penninsula in Bete Grise.
Our private cottage is the perfect respite after enjoying all the area has to offer.

We have a private dock which offers direct water access to all types of boating and fishing in Lake Superior and Lac La Belle. Beach access to the crystal blue waters and singing sands of Lake Superior is at the end of the driveway. The Midwest's premier ski hill, Mt Bohemia, is just 3 miles down the road as are the U.P's famed snowmobile trails, and mountain biking IMBA’s Copper Harbor “Silver Level Ride Center” ranks among the top trail systems in the world!

Our open floor plan on the first floor is a wonderful place to gather after a day of adventure in the the Keweenaw whether it be for a meal or fireside chat around the custom fireplace.

Our cottage has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 10. The master suite is located on the main floor with an attached bathroom. It has a queen bed and queen size sleeper sofa. The 2 other bedrooms are located on the second floor, 1 with 2 queen beds and the other with 1 queen bed and a shared bathroom.

There is an alarm system on the cabin that will be disarmed before your arrival. We do however have exterior cameras that are on the porch only. These are for your protection and ours.

First visit to UP
We experienced the Upper Peninsula for the first time. My husband enjoyed the rock and mineral shops and museum. We explored a copper mine and saw Lake Superior in all her glory.

Bete Gris gem
This wonderful family home is on a private road/long driveway with views of the lagoon and Lake Superior. The home is comfortable, very well appointed kitchen, linens, beach items, and the home is extremely clean, including the gas grill! Our family had a wonderful time walking over to Bete Gris beach everyday to have coffee on the beach and then return again in the afternoon for some beach time.

4th of July Week
Communication with Carla was quick and easy. Amswered all our questions weeks in advance ao when the time came to stay we had everything we needed and never even had to reach out anytime after our two day drive. House was beyond expectations for our 3 sons and both grandmas! Plently of space for all 7 of us. All the comforts of home. We brought a boat and used the dock all week. Fishing on lake superior was excellent for us and the scenery is world class! Hiked Bare Bluffs and checked out Montreal Falls with the boat. The beach was beautiful and only a short walk down the private driveway. Wish we could have stayed all summer! Thanks so much for sharing your property with us! I would love to think that we will make it back someday.

Wonderful location and space
Finding a place for 10 family members to gather is always a challenge. This property offered plenty of room to spread out, comfortable sleeping for all, beautiful sunrises over Lake Superior, and a wide range of hikes and activities within 30 min. Geology of the area is amazing and otter and hummingbird activity was also a treat. Hope to revisit in the future!

Another exceptional stay
This was our third year in a row at Bete Grise, and it was just as wonderful as the past stays! The cabin is very well stocked with everything you need. Great house
Went with a group of 4 to ski. The location is great. The house is very nice. There were some extremely minor hiccups regarding the checkout process sheet in the guidebook, but it was no big deal. This is a great place to stay, especially in proximity to mt Bohemia. We plan to stay here again. We loved it! You will love this place.

Holiday Get Away
The house and location were amazing. The home was very well stocked. The beds were super comfortable and the home was nicely furnished and cozy. We loved the large wood burning fireplace and the nice dry firewood provided. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals and eat them in the large dining area. The views are incredible as is the surrounding area of the Keweenaw Peninsula. We enjoyed the sunrises, walking to the channel, exploring the area around Copper Harbor, dinner in Eagle Harbor and skiing at Mt. Bohemia. This ranks right near the top of all the homes we have rented.

Beautiful Home, Stunning Views, Quiet and Peaceful
This property is amazing! The home is beautiful, large, comfortable, cozy, and very clean. The host provides all the comforts of home and many extras too. My family of 7 adults spent an extended weekend here this past fall. Each morning we enjoyed watching the sun rise over Lake Superior, from the large front window of the home. We also had deer outside the window as well. The fall colors here are just stunning. This is one of the nicest properties that I've every stayed at. Thank you to the host for sharing your home and making us feel very welcome.

Surrounded by Nature and the Beauty of the Keweenaw
With a view of Lake Superior and the morning sunrise, it was a great base to explore the beauty of the Keweenaw, and to return to at the end of the day to enjoy time with family. It couldn’t have been more peaceful. It’s a lovely home, and we enjoyed morning coffee, walks on the beach, and shared meals at the end of the day, looking out over the lagoon and lake 🌲🦌

Amazing Experience!
We loved every minute of our stay! If anything, the cabin is more amazing in person than you can see in the pictures. The two bedrooms upstairs are much larger than they appear and have high ceilings. Everyone has there own "place." We could have easily had 2-4 more adults. The cabin property is incredible with a swing looking over the water, a dock, a wrap around porch for watching the sun come up or relaxing after dinner, and a view of both the channel and Lake Superior. If you love nature, love the beach, or love visiting nearby waterfalls, piers, or hiking, you will love it here! We rented a kayak from Copper Harbor and they delivered it, and picked it up for us. There is so much to explore in the area and also a great place to tuck in and enjoy the view! If this sounds like you, you'll love it!

Wonderful, BUT beware of video cameras
This location is incredible. The house is incredible. The property is incredible. BUT their use of video surveilenace on the house was a huge disappointment and clouded the entire trip for myself and my family. Prior to our stay there, the camera use was not disclosed on the listing. Subsequently, they now disclose the use of the video cameras. The video cameras are mounted on the exterior. However, they have a clear view of much more than the front porch. They can clearly see into the living room, kitchen and dining area so I would not consider them "exterior" cameras. For example, if you wish to watch the sunset/sunrise on the front porch, you need to be aware that you're on video the entire time. They claim this is "for your protection and ours". I have no idea how this protects anyone. This location is VERY remote (in a VERY good way). There are few people around, let alone "bad guys" who are going to come to the property. Remember that these video surveillance systems are specifically designed to alert the user every time there is motion. That means if you step in the camera's view, the user is getting alerted that you're having coffee on the front porch. I would also note that the property manager continued to attempt communication outside of the VRBO app. I'm unclear as to why this was necessary. If being continually surveilled is not something you're concerned about, then I would HIGHLY recommend this place. It really doesn't get much better than this house and location (it's even nicer than the pictures convey). However, I would have never selected this place had I known about the video surveillance ahead of my stay.

I loved this property. It is far removed from any neighbors but a short walk to the beach. It has a dock where we launched our kayaks from. It was a short drive to all the other activities we wanted to do in the area.

Welcoming cabin in a special setting
We've stayed in many rentals over decades and this was one of our top three. The photos in the listing do not convey the seclusion and beauty of the exceptional setting or the spaciousness and comfort of the cabin. It is appealingly furnished and was spotless on arrival. Our 3 genereation family of 8 had plenty of room to spread out and also comfortable gathering spaces. Although, on a busy day, you can see cars at the lovely beach across the lagoon, the setting is very secluded. From the house, there are water views on two sides. When you sit by the dock on the west branch of the lagoon, you have total peace and privacy. From the porch on the east side, you can look across the lagoon and Lake Superior to sunrise over Bare Bluff. We like to cook so appreciated the exceptionally well appointed kitchen. The location is perfect for exploring Bete Grise Preserve by land or by water, for climbing Bare Bluff and visiting Montreal Falls. Copper Harbor and Horseshoe Harbor are a beautiful 25 minute drive. Our kids and grandkids loved riding area mountain bike trails and reported that the guide who drove the shuttle at Keewenaw Adventures gave tremendous advice. Whether you just want to relax and enjoy a quiet charming spot, or plan to get out and explore all the trails, vistas and beaches of the northern Keewenaw, this cabin is an outstanding choice.
