The Space:
The Minimalist Tiny House is a private property located directly on a large paddock, separate from the main building/residence, surrounded by some of the pub animals such as the Kune Kune pigs, calves, chooks, and more.
We are located just an hour's drive away from Central Otago. The area is known for its thrilling watersports on the Kawarau River at Kawarau Gorge. Not far from the Otago Rail Trail, a 150-kilometre track for walking, cycling, and horse riding in the South Island of New Zealand.
A charming 190-square-foot tiny home in Patearoa with a queen-size bed up in the loft and a couch, which can be converted into a single bed on the ground floor. It has easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. This includes a cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers) for you to use.
If you plan to spend your tiny house New Zealand retreats here, we do have the pub located 2 minutes walk away which hosts a beautiful menu and space for all to enjoy.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We advise checking the pub's opening hours on our social media page to avoid any disappointments and advise on bringing food and other amenities as the local shop is a 15 minute drive from the site. Thank you!

The Neighborhood:
The Minimalist Tiny House is one of the best tiny house rentals in Patearoa, Located just an hour away from Central Otago, home to the world-renowned Pinot Noir and the majestic Kawarau Gorge. A thrilling city known for its Whitewater Rafting and Jet Boat Rides on the Kawarau River.
The ideal tiny house NZ retreat close to Maniototo, which is only a 17-min drive away from the property, and Patearoa's gold mining town, with swimming holes along the Sowburn River. Where you can enjoy the waterholes, bushwalking trails, and other attractions in the area.
Our local recommendations:
- Otago Rail Trail. We are very close to the rail trail. So if you fancy putting in some kms during your stay we are able to drop off and collect you at you desired location.
- We are the closest accommodation to the amazing Lammermoor Distillery where you can experience Whiskey and Gin tasting. You also can tour around the distillery itself.
- Naseby Holiday Park is only a short drive away where you can experience Ice Curling all year round. It also hosts lovely walking tracks and some hidden spots for picnics and swims.
- Looking for an early breakfast or afternoon lunch. Check out the local cafes in Ranfurly. Maniototo Cafe offers and great selection and E-Central offers a great breakfast dining option with plenty to choose from.
- The Patearoa watering hole is only a few minutes walk from your location with plenty of space and swim room for all. Making it into the Top 10 watering holes in NZ to cool off in the summer. If you are feeling adventurous take the 25-min walk up to Dykes Dam along the Sowburn River and experience a hidden paradise.
