•Lakehouse at Clifty Heights is in a beautiful location set in a private cove on lakefront property on the Lake of Egypt, just a short, easy access to I57 and I24, friendly towns of Marion, Goreville, and Creal Springs. Local attractions include but not limited to 3 lake marinas, local restaurants, and many wonderful Southern Illinois wineries, all a short distance from property. • With 93 miles of secluded wooded bays and inlets Lake of Egypt is one of Southern Illinois’s hidden treasures. Boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming are prime activities, and water-skiing, tubing, and jet skiing are also available in certain areas. Three marinas on the lake – all accessible via boat or personal vehicle - offer everything from food trucks almost every Friday and Saturday, full bars, live music, and delicious restaurants serving Mexican food and amazing pizza.

• Adults will enjoy a leisurely day of touring the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail set among the scenic countryside of Southern Illinois. Spend time discovering the distinctive character of each winery, exploring the charming towns and unique local restaurants that dot the trail, and leaning about the region’s rich history.

• The town of Marion has some amazing eateries to check out including The Vault Café, a breakfast restaurant that resides in an old bank building, and Pookie’s Beer, Burgers and Bocce with three bocce ball courts and live music.

• Take a day trip to the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge where 44,000 acres of land and water are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The Refuge serves as a winter feeding and resting area for waterfowl, and opportunities to view geese, bald eagles, songbirds, raptors, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey can be found in many areas of the Refuge. Points of interest, trails, auto tours, and viewing blinds have been developed throughout the Refuge to enhance wildlife encounters.

Perfect lake getaway
Our family of 5 absolutely loved our stay at this property. There was plenty of room for our family of 5, the property decor was beautiful, the kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook and the beds were soooo comfortable. We enjoyed spending our evenings on the deck and using the gas grill to cook and fishing off the dock. The kids enjoyed using the water trampoline. Brad was easy to get ahold of and welcoming. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this spot to anyone.

Cozy Cabin with a Great Lake View
Thoroughly enjoyed our winter stay in this cozy lakeview cabin! Queen bed in master was comfortable and the couch and great closet space were bonuses! The gas fireplace downstairs kept us toasty and added a great ambiance to the lightly falling snow outside. The electric fireplace on the covered porch was great too! The kitchen was well-equipped for making several meals and the washer and dryer were handy as well. Enjoyed watching the sun come up over the lake in the mornings. Several great restaurants and shopping within 15-20 minutes (we liked Thai-D, Bennie’s, The Vault, and Crown Brew Coffee).

Great place to stay.
Nice place on the water. Especially if you have a boat. The covered dock was a plus to be able to park my boat and just jump on and go. Also decent privacy from neighbors which is a plus.

Newly renovated lake home with direct access to the water
We had so much fun renting this beautiful lake home with our family. The home is newly renovated and very clean. It has a large deck with lakeside access and a covered dock. We were able to rent a boat locally for our family to fish, swim and tube. The owners are very helpful, responsive and kind. Great place!!

Tranquility by the lake
This lake house is a hidden gem that is just perfect in so many ways. Both bedrooms have comfortable mattresses, pillows and comfy blankets. They both have AC units and ceiling fans to keep you comfortable while you sleep. The main living area is down a flight of stairs. The furniture is lovely and very comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with the essentials. The internet is strong, which my teenager appreciated. The deck in the back is stunning and overlooks the lake. We enjoyed our coffee in the morning outside and dinners made on the gas grill. We watched the deer right off the deck at sunset. This is a great place to stay when visiting your student at SIU. It's about a 30 min drive to campus and makes you feel like you are on vacation. The owner was very easy to communicate with and was extremely friendly and accommodating. We loved our stay.

Loved it!
We had a great stay. This place is like new. It had everything we needed for the perfect lake vacation. The host is easy to contact and very responsive. The fishing here was amazing. The beds are very comfortable. We will definitely be back. We brought our paddle boards and enjoyed a nearby hike.

Amazing
Amazing property. The home had everything we needed, even some condiments in the fridge. Very helpful and attentive owner. Gave us a boat recommendation and some other activity recommendations. We had no issues at all during our 5 day stay. Host was super friendly and checked in on us but was not annoying or intrusive. The home was actually better than the pictures. It is wooded but also right on the lake. It was so peaceful outside on the deck. Will definitely stay again. Thanks Brad!

Great lake house
The place was very easy to get to and in a nice secluded spot. Having the washer and dryer was great with kids! Close to some really nice hiking spots, too! Very comfortable and homie!

Great Home
The house was so cute & cozy with many updates throughout. The neighborhood was very friendly & the owner was one of the best we’ve ever had. We spent a lot of time on the deck overlooking the lake with it’s beautiful view!! We will definitely be back. Thank you Brad for the great accommodations.

Beautiful, hidden gem on Lake Egypt! Private, beautiful home, with private dock. Beautiful, large porch, with gas grill. Owner was wonderful about checking in, and was very friendly. You can sit on the porch, and literally hear nothing but surrounding nature. The home was decorated beautifully. Beds clean and comfortable. Shower had amazing hot water, with great pressure, and detachable shower head with seat, if needed. The only thing that I would suggest, is that this is for guests who can navigate stairs. The bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs, and some people, especially elderly, may have trouble with that. The couch has a King size pullout downstairs, and there's plenty of room for a small family getaway. We enjoyed our stay so much, and hope to return!

Cabin on a lake
My family rented in November to watch our son run the Tunnel Hill ultra Marathon. It was perfect to come back to in between watching him during the race. Fireplace was a plus because it snowed! TV and internet were great! Would rent again in the fall to enjoy the leaves and warmer weather. Just as described and owner was very accessible.

Fall Break
This was a pleasant surprise. The property is easy to get to and has everything you need for your stay. The highlight was doing a sunset boat ride. It’s fall and the leaves are beautiful against the water. Stunning views. I highly recommend getting fried fish from Triple E. We had the best hosts. Thanks for going above and beyond for your guest. We will be back.
